Popular eBooks now available with Overdrive!

We are excited to announce that popular ebooks are now easily available on any device with Overdrive and the reading app Libby.

With just your MyReynolds login, you can borrow from the digital collection for free by downloading Libby, the reading app from Overdrive, or visiting https://reynoldslibraries.overdrive.com/

Libby seamlessly connects first-time users and experienced readers with eBooks. This locally selected collection offers ebooks and audiobooks including bestsellers and new releases.

This service is compatible with all major computers and devices, iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets and Chromebook. Through Libby, readers can also “send to Kindle.” All titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period and there are no late fees. Readers can also download titles onto Libby for offline use.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions or concerns!

Three easy steps to get started:

Step 1: Open the Reynolds Libraries digital collection using one of the following:

Visit https://reynoldslibraries.overdrive.com/

OR

The Libby app

Step 2: Borrow

Borrow a title by logging in with your MyReynolds username and password

Step 3: Enjoy!

You can enjoy titles immediately online, download them for offline use, or send borrowed ebooks to a Kindle device. Loan period is for 14 – 21 days depending on your selection at checkout. Currently there is a max of two checkouts and you can place up to five holds. If there are no holds on an item, you will have the opportunity to renew the title three days before expiration.

Changes to Kanopy Video Streaming

Beginning 12/18/2019, the Kanopy video streaming resource now only allows unlimited streaming for the titles that the library has paid an annual license for.  The previous model of unlimited streaming for all titles was not financially sustainable. We are hopeful that the new model still allows easy access to the most highly demanded and requested films used by our faculty, staff, and students in support of the course curriculum.

When you access the Kanopy homepage, all the titles you see in the categories section are videos we currently have licensed and are instantly streamable. Simply click on the title you wish to stream and then click on the play button:

kanopy1

In addition, anyone can submit a purchase request for any title that we don’t currently have licensed.  Submitting a request does not guarantee that we can purchase the title; however, we will try and honor requests based on the needs of the requester and the current library budget.

Requesting a title is easy.  When you encounter a title we currently do not have licensed, fill out the form and click the “Request Access” button:

kanopy2

You will receive a submission confirmation via email. A librarian will follow up with you within 48 hours to update you with the status of your request.

Do not hesitate to Ask Us if you have any questions regarding Kanopy or if you encounter any issues with access and/or streaming.  We are happy that we can continue to provide access to this popular and useful resource!

Updated Library Website is live!

newsite

We are excited to officially launch our updated website! After receiving feedback from students, faculty, and staff, the library site was updated to create a better user experience.

The new site makes navigating easier by having a persistent menu bar with all library links available no matter where you are on the site:

We’ve also incorporated a prominent search box area that allows you to customize your catalog search based on what type of resource you are seeking – including Textbook Reserves. Additionally, you can now easily browse Popular/Best sellers, DVDs, and recently added books to the collection:

Library Workshops and Events are now prominently listed on the new library homepage as well as the most recent social media posts:

Some more exciting things to look forward to in the near future: more video guides/tutorials and an improved look for our Research Guides that will integrate more seamlessly with the rest of the website.

Please be aware that if you had previously bookmarked any links to specific library pages, you will need to update those to reflect the new URLs.  Otherwise, you may receive a “404” error page. If you have any trouble finding a particular resource, have questions, or would like to provide any additional feedback, don’t hesitate to reach us by phone, email, or in person.

New Library Website Preview

New website

Reynolds Libraries website is getting an exciting redesign.  We invite you to preview the new design at http://library.reynolds.edu/demo/index.html.

The redesign started about a year ago and was influenced by our observations from working with students, faculty and staff.   Efforts were made to adopt new web design and user experience trends.

We hope to officially launch the redesign this summer (May 2019).  We would appreciate your review and feedback by filling out the online survey.

You can also access the new website and survey from the links at the top of the current library website.

Copy of Copy of Catalog notice

Reynolds Libraries has a new and improved online catalog! The new catalog can be accessed by conducting a search in the main search box on the library website, or you can access it directly with the following URL:  https://vcc-srl-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/search?vid=JSRCC

If you previously bookmarked the old catalog link, please make sure you update it to the new link.

There are a couple things to note at this time:

  • Database articles and electronic resources are currently being added to the system so in the meantime you will be better off searching individual databases by going to the A-Z databases page.
  • There will be forthcoming customizations made to the look of the interface (color schemes, logos, images, etc.) so thank you for your patience as we continue to enhance the look and feel!

As with the old catalog, you can use the “My Account” feature to renew items, check the status of current checkouts, and place requests.

In the upper right side of the page, click “Guest”:

then click on “SIGN IN” (you will then be taken to the MyReynolds login page; once logged in, you will be taken to your account)

We will continue to make updates and announcements regarding the new catalog and hope that you will enjoy the improved catalog!

New Print System is Here!

print system image

You spoke and we listened. Beginning in August 2017, Reynolds Libraries launched a new print system called PaperCut. This replaced the previous Equitrac system.

New features include the acceptance of credit cards and coins, and web-printing (from personal laptops/mobile devices). For any and all questions pertaining to the new print system, please visit our Reynolds Printing guide at library.reynolds.edu/printing. Once there, you will find step-by-step tutorials for using the new print system, tips, and a comprehensive FAQ.

Your EquiTrac print card can no longer be used for printing; however refunds will be available from the Business Offices beginning Monday, August 14th.

Thank you for your patience as we launch this new & improved system!
