The library has recently acquired the following legal/business databases to better meet the needs of our curriculum, particularly for paralegal and business students.  We hope you’ll find them valuable for your teaching and research and encourage your students to use them for their assignments.

1. LexisNexis Academic  (Now replacing Westlaw Campus Research. No login is required for on-campus access; use “MyJSRCC” login for off-campus use)

Provides access to a wide range of news, business, legal, medical, and reference information from nearly 5,000 sources, most of them available in full text. The service covers newspapers, magazines, wire services, federal and state court opinions, federal and state statutes, federal regulations, and SEC filings. News information is updated daily and wire services several times daily.

2. LexisNexis Paralegal Program   (Inside-library use only; request login assistance from a librarian.)

Provides access to Lexis.com and Lexis Advance services as used by the legal community. Available only to JSRCC students, faculty and staff. Students who have registered with LGL125 Legal Research will be assigned a login. Others can use the database inside the libraries by requesting login assistance from a librarian.

3. Westlaw Classic  and  Westlaw Next (Inside-library use only; request login assistance from a librarian.)

Provide both the classic and new search platforms for Westlaw’s online legal research service, including searches for United States and international legal materials, journals, business information and public records.  Available only to JSRCC students, faculty and staff.  Students who have registered with LGL125 Legal Research will be assigned a login. Others can use the database inside the libraries by requesting login assistance from a librarian.
