Would you like to find out about a particular career but don’t know where to begin?   Use the library’s online guide, Career Overviews, as a starting point for your research.  This guide provides a wealth of links to reliable sources.  You will also find helpful search tips for finding information on a particular career.  Here is just a sampling of resource links available from the guide:

  • Virginia Career View (web site)  Profile information on specific careers includes: job overview and description; related occupations, nature of the work; working conditions; special requirements; earnings and benefits; employment projections; career advancement; additional resources; internships; Virginia businesses; and career video clips.

  • Academic OneFile (library database) Covers a multitude of disciplines and subjects including information on specific careers.  Use your My JSRCC Login for off-campus access.

  • Best Jobs for the 21st Century (electronic book) To access off-campus, create your own NetLibrary account on a campus computer first.
